The practice
What the firm does, and who you would be dealing with.
Our work spans commercial advisory, operations, management reporting and forecasting - with AI and automation brought in where they measurably help.
01
Four areas of work
Core expertise that carries across industries - the same commercial, operational and analytical questions recur whatever a business sells. Most engagements begin in one area and extend into another.
01
Commercial and strategic advisory
Working with business owners and management on commercial decisions, market and pricing questions, and priorities for the business.
Typically involves
- Where margin actually comes from, by product, channel or site
- Pricing and promotional decisions, and what they cost
- Which lines or channels to keep, fix or close
- Expansion cases - a second site, a new channel, a new market
02
Operations and process
Reviewing how a business runs day to day, and recommending practical improvements to its processes and ways of working - including where automation and AI earn their place.
Typically involves
- Mapping a process end to end as it actually runs, not as documented
- Costing each step in hours and money
- Supplier and service-level arrangements, and where they leak
- Which steps are worth automating or handing to AI, and which are not
03
Management reporting and business intelligence
Building management dashboards and reporting from a client's own operational and sales data, with AI-assisted analysis where it makes the answer faster to reach.
Typically involves
- Consolidating several systems or platforms into one consistent model
- A dashboard the owners will actually open, on desktop and mobile
- Performance measures and a monthly reporting cycle worth attending
- Written documentation and handover, so it is not dependent on us
04
Planning and forecasting
Forecasting, budgeting and scenario planning to support commercial decision-making.
Typically involves
- A driver-based forecast - volume, average order value, channel mix
- Annual budgets, and the monthly cycle that keeps them honest
- Scenario and sensitivity cases for decisions with real downside
- Demand and resource planning where operations must follow the plan
The firm does not provide accountancy, audit, tax or bookkeeping services, regulated financial advice, or marketing delivery. Where a request falls outside the practice, it is declined rather than sub-contracted.
The difference that matters
Most of what you're trying to fix, we haven't just advised on it, we've run it.
02
How engagements work
Who we work with
Owner-managed and mid-sized companies, in the UK and internationally, usually at the point where the business has outgrown the reporting and planning it started with.
Agreement
Every engagement runs under a written service agreement setting out scope, responsibilities and rates before any work starts.
Fees
Either a fixed fee for a defined piece of work, or an hourly or day rate where the shape of the work is less certain. Which of the two applies is confirmed in discussion and set out in the agreement before anything begins.
Delivery
Engagements are led personally rather than passed to a junior team. Where part of a technical build calls for more hands, a specialist subcontractor is engaged on defined pieces of it under supervision; responsibility to the client remains with this firm.
Ownership
Deliverables - models, dashboards, documentation and source files - belong to the client on payment, and are supplied unlocked and editable.
Your data
Data processing takes place in the United Kingdom, under a data processing agreement signed before any personal data changes hands. Access is limited to what a piece of work actually requires.
